Holy Rosary

Our Lady of the Rosary
We thank the good God for blessing us with good popes who were all very devoted to the Rosary. What can we learn from them about the Rosary? St. Pope John XXIII deeply promoted the Rosary as an anchor for families and a remedy for social conflict. In his 1959 encyclical, he wrote that the Rosary is a specialized prayer for resolving difficult social and international problems. He stated too that the Rosary acts as a “school for learning true perfection” when the faithful quietly meditate on the life of Christ and Mary. He also said, “There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Rosary” and urged families to pray it together. Here we recall Venerable Patrick Peyton who said, “The family that prays together stays together.”
St. Pope John Paul II
​St. Pope John Paul II, often called the “Apostle of the Rosary” or the “Pope of the Rosary” called the Rosary his absolute favorite prayer. In his apostolic letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae, he wrote, “The Rosary though clearly Marian in character is at heart a Christ-centered prayer.” He constantly urged the Church to hold on to the Rosary to combat global tensions, terrorism and division. He added the Luminous Mysteries in 2002 to help believers meditate more thoroughly on Jesus’ public ministry

Pope Francis follows his predecessors by praying the entire Rosary daily and highlighting its personal impact on his life. He shared that his lifelong habit of praying all the mysteries of the Rosary every day began after he witnessed St. Pope John Paul II praying it intensely on his knees during a public gathering. Like St. Pope John Paul II, he frequently asks Catholics around the world to hold fast to the Rosary during times of war, suffering and societal crisis. He describes the Rosary as a healing, comforting rhythm that draws the human heart closer to the merciful love of Jesus through Mary’s guidance. In summary, the three popes taught that the Holy Rosary is a powerful, Christ-centered prayer essential for achieving world peace and personal holiness. Let us with our hearts respond to Mary’s request to pray the Rosary daily for world peace! Heed our popes who tell us: Pray the Rosary for peace! And let us not forget that the La Naval victory celebrated until now in Sto. Domingo Church is due to the praying of the Rosary. It is our salvation. We celebrate the feast of our Lady of the Rosary on October 7 and the whole month of October is dedicated to the holy Rosary.

​Significantly, all three, St. Pope John XXIII, St. Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis have their feast days in the month of the Rosary, October! St. Pope John XXIII on October 11, St. Pope John Paul II on October 22 and Pope Francis on October 4, the feast day of his patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi.

​The Ordinary Time of the Year ends with the Solemnity of Christ the King, which is the XXXIV Sunday of the Ordinary Time. Christ’s cross and pierced Heart (the Sacred Heart) define his Kingship for the sake of love and risen from the dead to give life to all. Jesus, the eternal King, reigns from the cross. Through his death on the cross, we are made members of his Kingdom where fullness dwells. His Kingship and thereby his Kingdom is all about making himself vulnerable and powerless for the sake of love, a kenosis (self-emptying) unto death (cf Phil 2:15) and risen from the dead in order to give life to all. Hail, Christ the King! Thereby, in honoring Christ the King we honor the cross of our redemption and his most Sacred Heart which flowed out love and life to all. “One of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear and at once blood and water came out” (Jn 19:34). The blood signified Love and the water signified the life which we received in Baptism in which we are made partakers of the divine lifechildren of God through the gift of the Holy Spirit. Let us enthroned Christ the King in our homes and pledge our allegiance to him!

​We warmly welcomed Sr. Mary Mercy months before we heartily welcomed Sr. Mary Claire to our community. They adjusted well in faithful loving service and uplifting smiles. To Sr. Maria Veritas, we said farewell with assurance of our prayers as she was transferred to Aklan. May the Holy Spirit come upon her in her new mission and community.

Beatification Process

Sr. Veronika Racková, SSpS
​Sr. Michaelin, SSpS, Visitatrix, visited us with the SSpS Tagaytay community of four Sisters. She shared with us about the announced process of beatification initiated by the Catholic Sudanese Bishop Alex Lodiong of Slovakian Sr. Veronika Racková, SSpS who was killed in South Sudan after bringing a patient in the hospital. May God give us another saint and martyr in the Arnoldus Family.
​November is the month of the holy souls in purgatory. You may send us the names of your beloved deceased, relatives and friends to be included in our whole month November devotion for the holy souls, Masses, Liturgy of the Hours, day & night adoration and sacrifices.
